WHAT MOVES US
Our main goal is to defend and advocate for the human rights of people-on-the-move who are caught between European borders, regardless of their gender, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.
We are driven by our shared indignation at the human rights violations that these communities continually suffer, and at the unacceptable living conditions imposed on them by the 'fortress-like' border policies of the European Union and its constituent member-states. We seek to amplify the voices of those who suffer these injustices. In Melilla, these mainly consist of bureaucratic repression and administrative gridlock.
Furthermore, we want to provide information to the citizens of the EU - in whose names these acts are committed - as a way of pressuring our leaders to protect the fundamental rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
We believe in the importance of restoring the dignity that is stripped away from people who attempt to cross European borders. In order to achieve this, we engage actively and horizontally, encouraging cooperation between our volunteers and people-on-the-move, seeking to promote values of integration, mutual respect and understanding in turn.
We want to focus our actions on the creation of both local and international support networks, as well as spreading awareness and solidarity in the face of the institutional abandonment experienced by thousands of people on the doorstep of the EU.
